Modane station, next to the mouth of the Fréjus rail
tunnel, is located at the railway line from Chambéry to
Turin.
Whilst FS trains hauled by domestic locomotives reach the border-station operating at reduced power
under the SNCF 1,5 kV catenary, a growing number of multi-system locomotives pass the station as
TGV services (Paris to Milano) do since a couple of years.
